4:14 This is soooo true! It’s very easy to do the bare minimum and get discouraged because you’re not getting hired. You seek validation so you doom scroll reddit threads and videos confirming your bias. You have to realize you’re just not good enough. Get angry that you’re being left behind and increase those skills. Humility, possessing a small ego with a willingness to learn beyond what is required will change your life.

Thank you for a good explanation of the differences. Just one question about the code, why do you separate the client and server code in separate projects when they could live in one? Afterall, it's not likely that you're going to replace one or the other with something different so what's the benefit of this separation of concerns?

Yeah I'm just not seeing it unfortunately. I've been a professional webdev since 2011 and I've never seen such a drought in job postings in my country. I got made redundant twice in the last 3 years (neither of them due to anything I did) and one of them was due to a general reduction in demand (I was a recent hire, so they dropped me). I don't believe any of this is due to AI at all, it is mostly due to sites like Wix & Squarespace, which have taken a huge amount of the lower-end jobs (SME) away from developers. Yes, some people still go to developers due to time constraints or because they're not not tech savvy, but others don't. Pretty much the only jobs that are safe in webdev these days are the ones making high-end apps for clients spending $10,000-$100,000+ on their project. TBH, even though I still do freelance webdev, I've almost entirely lost my interest in it over the last year, due to the abysmal market conditions. So much so that I'm transitioning into gamedev instead, which neither AI nor automated tools can realistically replace in the foreseeable future.

I have the money to spend now, but what about the "college student" you refer to who couldn't afford the $16 a month for hosting sites? How is anyone starting out in this field supposed to know what a message pack analyzer is? It really reinforces the idea that this industry is being gatekept by the elite

Great explanation!! In my case, it was a Web Api and I had a Dockerfile that Visual Studio had added in the project creation. The Railway automatically used it so the errors that you had shown in the log right after the deploy didn't happen. Also I used the connection string on the appSettings.json, just updated it with the variables from the Railway Mysql instance (I've used mysql instead of postgres)

However, the job market for developers is strong, and the pay is great. But not everyone can do it. We will tell you if you are a fit for our program if you reach out to us. We only accept people that we feel can pass and be successful.

Our isa does that you do not pay till you make over 40k. So we do take the risk for students. All the other ways you learn to code you pay no matter your outcome. College and self learning have no such options or student protections. If anyone calls us, we are very transparent with your opportunity and costs.

The problem with ISA is that they say if you make over a certain amount. This would even include if your job isn’t tech related. This is why I am so glad I ended up not signing the ISA in 2022.
